Welcome to Motivational Monday-Going Strong! I wanted to talk a little bit about keeping on track for our goal achievement, whatever those goals might be! Motivation. It’s a sneaky thing. We’ve all been there…starting a new debt payoff plan, a new eating plan, exercise plan, whatever it may be. You start off going gangbusters and everything is great and then little by little things slip, until one day motivation seems to have taken a one way train OUT of your life!! I have these moments too and I want to talk a little bit today about ways to get motivation back into your life, or better yet, to not lose it in the first place!
- Chart your progress, just like we used to do for our kids (or still do if you have young kids at home) with their chore charts! This works for adults to, we sometimes need that visual reminder of what we have accomplished. Plus, we can use all those fun pens and stickers!
- Get a buddy, we all know being accountable to someone makes it easier to stick to you goals, plus you have a partner to talk you down from giving up.
- Reward yourself! This is so important, when you accomplish something give yourself a reward! It does NOT have to cost you a lot of money, sometimes for me it’s an hour in a bubble bath with a book!
- Depending on your goal, take a class that supports goal achievement. If your goal is to get better at taking photos for your blog (raises hand), then take a class to help you achieve that!
- Write it down! Write down your goal (s) but also write down your reasons for wanting to achieve your goal. When you are feeling low going back to read these will help you get that motivation back again!
- Keep it simple, break it down into small goals, daily ones if possible! When you can feel that accomplishment frequently it helps keep you on the road to the final goal! This also helps with those rewards!
- Get active! That’s right, even if your goal has nothing to do with exercise or moving your body, doing so can help maintain your motivation.
- Find a mantra! Something you can repeat to yourself or write down somewhere that reminds YOU what you are doing this for!
I hope these little tips helped you all to keep your motivation going strong on this chilly Monday morning! What will YOU do to keep your motivation going strong this week?
xoxo
